Kevin AThanks to folks like Alley Cat, my son and I have the Borla humming pretty good. I can't think of any reason, other than putting it back on if I ever (don't say it!) sell the car. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Kevin

KareselKevin

One of my son's and I just changed the exhaust to a Borla on my Kat this past weekend.

You know I hate throwing it away but I don't know what else to do with it.

Any buyers out there for those that don't want to put a Borla on your Kat's, the stock will rust out.

I have one available and maybe Kevin has one available.

butchceeOne guy told me that he does something to the stock muffler that makes it sould just like a Borla... cuts the rear off and re-jiggers the guts and welds it back up. Might want to hang onto it if the Borla goes south and you want to experiment.
CTProwlerI left the two of mine at the local garage!! I stopped in about a month ago! Still sitting there right outside the door! What it amounts to in life is do you have the room to store all the things you "think" might be valuable later in life!! I rather not have the mess!!Just as a example, by brother was a pack Rat!He had 10 old cars and engines, Basement full of junk! He died of a heart attack 2 years ago! Boy what a mess he left my sisters and I to clean up!

ETI put mine back in the Borla box and stored it for my 16 year old son. He may want to put the factory stock exhaust back on the car 30 years from now when a pure stock Prowler will be impossible to find either for sale or in a show. Funny thing, it only has 800 miles on it and is like new as well.

Who knows, factory stock exhaust systems for 30 year old cars and bikes are worth big bucks these days. If you can find them at all.

CJI put the Borla system on both my cats and, of course, saved the stock systems. They are safely stored just in case...............
pauldunnjust paid $500 to have a stock one installed ....keep it!
ALLEY CATKevin - Keep it stored away,,,,,,,,,like I always say when arriving at a garage sale: "I see the price of junk keeps going UP"
Bob GoetzI use the mufflers I take off here to hold the tarps down on the wood piles at the cabin.
Kevin AI grabbed them out of the pile with just a couple of minutes to spare before the garbage truck rolled into the street! I guess I would prefer to throw it away a few years from now when I feel pretty sure I won't need it rather than kick myself for doing it!

Bob, You got a cabin up north? Maybe around Mille Lac? I used to guide on Winnebigosh in the summers. My Grandma had a cabin on Winnie for years. I spent many a summer running that country. I'm headed up there later this spring. My fav. part of the state now is up around Lake Vermilion. Had some super smallmouth fishing up there.

Bob GoetzIt is in Glen just north of Millacs about 15 miles. I have been invited up to Winnie fishing but have not gone.

Good move!!!

YellowFeverI sold mine on eBay for about $350. Used the box the Borla came in to ship it out.
ETChuck,

You have $700 sitting behind your local garage.....

CTProwlerET----I'll go get them if anyone wants them! Then i have to package and ship them! Remember i had my kat with me when i drove home! I didn't want to ruin the seats or worse to save a few $$$$$$$$$$

idiveIf anyone just doesn't want theirs anymore, I can use a spare set. I'm going to get a borla soon as I can scrape up the bucks, but I want to keep my stock for stock return. The thing is, my tips got scratched at the dealer when they put on my hitch. I would like to have a set with unblemished tips to restore back to stock when that time comes.

SunriseCruiserI still have my stock exhaust, I am willing to part with it. It was too quiet for me i need to hear the crackle when i downshift, I dont have anything besides cats now and i put on some echo can tips so it is nice and loud. Anyways if anyone wants mine send me an email @ Jag1650@aol.com.
DR PROWLERI think having stock parts can only help the car's resale value(if you ever decide to sell it).Mods improve performance and looks and it's always good to know you can change it back to original if you ever wish to do it.
maverick1Has anyone taken off the stock baffled tips, and replaced them with regular stainless tips without the baffles? I was just wondering what that would sound like?

I didn't take the original tips off. We removed the baffles (drilled out the rivits). Left the standard tips on. I really can't tell much difference. Maybe just a bit more noise. Really hard to tell any diff. JMO

You bring up an interesting point. The Borla is a Mopar part, and should have been stock on the Prowler. I think the cheesy stock exhaust is worthless since it rusts out so quick. I think a collector would like a exhaust system with a Mopar part # that will never rust and show off much better.

The Borla really is the exhaust system that should have come stock with the car....So I told my service manager to trash the old pipes...absolutely no use to me, and I can't imagine anyone putting those rusty pipes on the car.

maybe the pipes don't rust on those of you who store and drive on nice days?

maverick1JMO, Thanks for the info. I just thought maybe by taking away the baffles it would have a nicer sound, but I guess not I see you're from Marshall Mo. I know it well as I'm originally from the St Louis area. Retired, and moved to Florida 7 years ago, and love it here!!!!

My wife and I are both retired also. We would be in Florida or Hawaii now if she would move. She won't leave the grandkid.

indy96If you can, hang on to it! I have some original stuff from my Road Runner that i cleaned up, preserved (wax, oil, grease...whatever) and now some of the items are worth mega-bucks. I say save and have available when some one inherits your Kat (I may be buried in mine).
